Pens

Micron Fineliners

My favorite go-to pen for inking. Very waterproof, so these will suit you well for water-based or alcohol markers and watercoloring, so long as you let them completely dry before coloring. I use these a lot. Your favorite sizes may vary from mine, but 0.005, 0.01, and the PN pens are my absolute favorites.

Zebra Fude Sign Brush Pens

What brush pen is your favorite comes down to feel. These are a bit stiffer than most, allowing for greater control, but with less line variation. I like the extra control, and use the Fine tipped pen almost as much as my Micron PN. Just be careful to let them dry overnight if you are going to color over your work. Zebra Fude Sign Brush Pens

Pentel Portable Pocket Brush Pen

The Cadillac of brush pens. Super flexible with real bristles, this is truly the feel of a brush with the convenience of a pen. Many artists swear by these, but I have a hard time controlling them. Nonetheless, I love trying, and I love them even more for filling in large areas of black. Pentel Portable Pocket Brush Pen

Pencils

Pilot Color Eno Mechanical Pencils

I start off pretty much every drawing I'm going to ink with these pencils. I start with light blue and refine with pink. If I'm doing a drawing that uses perspective, I'll use green and orange to draw my grid on the page. I don't use the darker colors as they are harder to erase, but I often use them just to write notes.Pilot Color Eno Mechanical Pencils

Prismacolor Col-Erase Pencils

I personally do my pencilling in colored pencil and then edit the colors out on the computer. This link is two a 24 color set, but truth be told, I usually only use about 8. Prismacolor Col-Erase Erasable Colored Pencil, 24-Count

Polymer Pencil-top Erasers

Col-Erase pencils are great, but the eraser tops? Not so much. Make your life easier with the far superior white pencil-top eraser. Pentel Hi-Polymer Cap Erasers

Once you use your Pilot Eno mechanical pencils long enough to figure out what colors you like best, you'll want to pick up some lead refills in those colors. Pilot Color Eno Lead in Soft Blue
